My intention behind this portrait is to bring Old Master portraits into the 21st century. I was inspired by a portrait by Pehr Hilleström (16th century). I wanted to give this portrait a touch of colour as the original was painted in black and white. Through this process, I wanted to add colour to this portrait to give it a contemporary feel but bring life into the black and white piece. A piece that looks like it has always been there.
