'A Basque Perspective'

Acrylic paint on paper

530mm x 730mm

I wanted to demonstrate the vibrant features of Spain's hidden cultural gem, Bilbao. Here, architecture flourishes and attracts artists such as Richard Serra and architects like Frank Gehry. I was inspired by the abstract but intriguing shape of the Guggenheim Museum. I wanted to explore a specific 'typical Basque' street view, and by experimenting with dot printing I was able to then use a piece of acrylic plastic to drag the paint down the page. By taking an architectural image and transforming it into its opposite form, I created a cascading street view that captures how one is captivated by this opulent city.
