‘Mancave’

Oil on canvas,

640mm x 880mm

I painted this scene by direct observation. I wanted to portray the room in my house that I feel most connected to. What I call the 'Mancave' is my safe space: it's the place I come to relax and the place in which I feel most inspired. What better place to paint than in my sacred space itself! From ancient books and period art works to funky furniture, the room has the aura of an old bachelor's pad but the interior of an eccentric. The room I most love is shared with the world through the use of my own oil painting style, creating an authentic tour of my 'Mancave'.
